Latest work:

Moving Out (trailer shown above), a new 6.5 hour video currently playing at Place.

In Moving Out, Chris Freeman documented and told the story behind every object he owns during a recent move. The result is a 6-hour sprawling self-portrait of a video that is also part endurance piece and part documentary. From the novel to the mundane, the dusty objects pulled off of shelves and desks and tossed into boxes provide a medium for investigating identity construction, dredged up memories, and holding on to the past. This jacket. This Pearl Jam album. This roll of duct tape. This postcard. This camera. This blanket. This notebook. All of these things came from somewhere and all are held onto for a reason, even if that reason is now forgotten or irrelevant. These are Chris Freeman’s things and stories, but this is a universally recognizable part of the human condition.
